Pride and Prejudice First Publication: 1813 Author: Jane Austen Story: This classic tale follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education and marriage in the landed gentry society of early 19th-century England.
Characters: (This character list is incomplete, please PM me any character you want that isn't on this list).
Elizabeth Bennet Play-by: Keira Knightley Our witty protagonist is the second child of the Bennet family. She is considered to this day to be one of the most beloved heroines in British literature.
Fitzwilliam Darcy Play-by: Matthew Macfadyen A wealthy gentleman who becomes one of Elizabeth Bennet's many suitors. He is described as being cold and makes a poor impression on strangers.
Mary Bennet Play-by: Talulah Riley Is the only plain Bennet sister, and rather than join in some of the family activities, she reads, although is often impatient for display. She works hard for knowledge and accomplishment, but has neither genius nor taste.
Jane Bennet Play-by: Rosamund Pike Eldest Bennet sister, she is also the closest with Elizabeth. Her most notable trait is a desire to see only the good in others.
Lydia Bennet Play-by: Jena Malone Is the youngest Bennet sister, aged fifteen when the novel begins. She is repeatedly described as frivolous and headstrong. Her main activity in life is socialising, especially flirting with the military officers stationed in the nearby town of Meryton.
Catherine Bennet Play-by: Carey Mulligan Is the fourth Bennet sister, aged seventeen. She is portrayed as a less headstrong but equally silly shadow of Lydia.
