Rules: Are always subject to change.
You knew they would be here, so here they are. The rules this forum is to abide by at all times. And no, I won’t have a secret code-word encrypted into the rules that you have to put on your application.
Instead, you must PM me and state that you have read the rules, and will accept any consequences for your actions as a member of this board. That way if someone breaks the rules and gets banned, they can’t exactly whine and complain at me, can they? I will not accept any applications from you until you PM me.
Punishments:
First Offense, The Warning
When you break the rules for the first time, you will receive a message from me. In it will explain what you did and what rule you broke in the process. This is your first and only warning.
Second Offense, Suspension
The following offense with result in a two week suspension from the site. Let it be a ‘cooling off’ period for you. After the two weeks are up, you will be welcomed back on the site.
Third Offense, Expulsion
If, after we have welcomed you back after the second offense, you are still acting like a git and breaking the rules, you get expelled from the site. That’s it, game over; you will NOT be welcomed back.
Now let’s get on with it, shall we?
The Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would want to be treated. You should have learned this rule when you were five. That means no foul treatment toward other roleplayers and their characters. If you are having a disagreement toward another person, stick to Personal Messaging. The cbox is for friendly chat only, not for knock-out-drag-out arguments.
Profiles: Your mini-profile should display your character’s name. Not ‘Sexykitten43’ or (god-forbid) ‘Hyde’sHotandHeavyLove’. When Applying for your application, please put your characters Last name first, then first names. Applications can be found here. You may not start roleplaying until your application is accepted! Only one character per-account. You are allowed up to four characters.
Admins: One day, I will be starting to choose admins from members who I feel are reliable enough. When I do, be respectful toward them. They will have the power to punish you for your actions.
Mary-Sue: And her partner-in-crime Gary-stu are not welcomed on this board. Mary-Sue’s are defined as being ‘special snowflakes’. Characters who are essentially perfect people. On the same note, Harry doesn’t have a secret cousin on his father’s side. Nor does Sherlock have any secret children with Irene. Try to be real with your character.
Cannon-Only: On that note, we are a cannon-only site at this time. On that same note, if there is a piece of English literature that you would like to take a character from that hasn’t be mentioned, PM me and let me know which literature it is and what character you want from it. Or if there is a character that I did not mention in the character list, please PM me!
Role-playing: Post your topics and replies in third person. For example, “Harry went into Potions Class” not “I went into Potions Class”. Do not God-mode, which is defined as taking over another person’s character during roleplay. Example, “Gandalf shot a curse right at Sherlock’s heart and Sherlock shot back hundreds of feet before slamming against the wall and falling to the floor on his back”.
K, so u gtg?: Honestly, I understand if English isn’t your first language and you have a bit of trouble with grammar. All I’m asking you to do is to try your hardest. Definitely do NOT chat-speak, it is literally one of my pet-peeves! I should only see it in the cbox.
Adult Themes: This site is rated T for potential violence and some teenage behavior. Don’t be surprised if during the roleplay Ginny pulls a Lavender and starts snogging with Harry. Curse words: really, say what you need to say as long as you know it won’t be offensive toward who you are roleplaying with. As for other adult themes, if you and someone you are roleplaying with is dying for some alone time, I will put a password on your thread. This will guarantee that the site remains T.
Disappearing?: So your leaving for a holiday and you don’t tell us? Don’t be surprised if after a week goes by, you come back and your account is deleted. Seriously, I understand school life and hectic situations. So go to this board if you know you will be gone for a couple of days.
Topics: They should be at least three paragraphs long every post you make. One liners are simply unacceptable. If you don’t have the muse or the patience to post three paragraphs, don’t post.
And the most important rule of all?: Have fun!
